Os Stool
Os Stool
The Os Stools are a limited-edition set of sculptural, functional objects that blur the boundaries between design, body, and material memory. Each four-legged form is hand-built with an internal armature of recycled steel, plastic, and paper, then laminated in high-shrinkage abaca pulp and encrusted with salt. The entire surface is sealed for water resistance, maintaining durability while preserving the evocative texture.
The resulting surface references bone, stone, skin, and flesh, creating a visual language of corporeality and erosion. Salt, a material often found in Seas’s work, underscores the tension between preservation and decay, adding a crystalline texture that evokes something ancient, organic, and slightly uncanny.
Though functional as stools, low tables or pedestals for other sculptural works (perhaps this or these), the Os series resists pure utility. They sit like fossilized creatures or ritual objects: meditative, physical, and grounding. Each piece is unique and designed to be used or contemplated as part of a living space or sculptural environment. Will hold up to 250 pounds.
