we

$50.00

we is a framed graphite drawing on handmade abaca paper, measuring just 2.5 × 1.5 inches—a delicately constructed micro-poem created for POST- Mini Gallery in Chicago (@post_mini_gallery). This intimate work blends the tradition of concrete poetry—where the visual arrangement of text becomes central to meaning—with the tactility of handmade materials.

From top to bottom, characters spelling “water” float within a form articulated by rippling parentheses that evoke condensation droplets or a current in motion, creating a rhythm that is as sculptural as it is linguistic. At the center, a pause of letters in the flow allows the word “we” to be held within the punctuation while letters a, t, and r—a scrambled “art”—exist outside the “container” of parentheses, underscoring the tension between meaning, containment, and release.

This piece invites close looking and layered interpretation, making it a standout work of visual poetry for collectors of text-based art, miniature works, or contemporary drawing.
